Chinese RMB is steadily devalued, this makes clients’ import cost keep reducing. 

Despite the government would like to keep the value of Chinese “Yuan” more stable,  yet the market will finally decide.  I checked the “forward rate” published by our commercial banks, it shows the RMB get cheaper again against USD if we look forward 12 months.  As workwear garment manufacturer, we should breathe a sigh of relief: after all, no news is good news, we don’t have to face the headaches of ask for price increasing to our clients.

Till today, I have worked in Alliance for one month. At the beginning, I think it will be very easy in garment field, because we wear clothes and see clothes everyday. But after one month, I find there are really a lot of things to learn if you want to be a qualified merchandiser. Before formal order or bulk production, we will do some samples, so checking samples is one of the most important links in the whole chain. We must be more careful to find any deviations, even a very very small bartack. Of course,   you can replace "a garment factory" to any other industries,  because I believe people who worked long time in same industry may get bored and dislike it finally,  but that will not make this "famous expression" less reasonable.  this expression suits garment industry much better than any other industries.   but the good result is,  after you work in this garment industry for a long time, your characters are changed.    we became more cautious,  more detail-minded, and more sensitive.    our brains are well trained every day,  because we handled much information.    Some products are made by machine, which you just need to make a mold, set up the machine, and switch on,  then you have final products,  but garment business deal with people.  Communications goes between people and people,  from sourcing fabric yardage to make development samples, to shipping agent who unload the goods to the port,    each order will involve at least 10 different companies, they are:

 

Cotton-pick troops coming!

From April this year, people say "cotton price is on his way of fast-increasing!",   "nobody is able to control cotton price increasing!",   this really made us recall the dark days of 2011, when cotton price changed (increased) day by day!  which made us lose the ability to make quotations to our customers--because you offered today,  and price went up next day. and when you updated the prices next day, it went up again the 3rd day.    In those nightmare days,  thanks to our client,  who indeed put 200% trust on us,  placed orders with price blanked, and we filled in prices "after" we lock the price with fabric suppliers, without negotiation with clients beforehand(because no time to negotiate).

 

Will that come again?    I was quite worried.  Despite we believe our clients trust us,  we shall not always put our relations into such  extent conditions to test its firmness.   Thunder came very heavily,  all the supplying chain believe that prices will go up without control.   Voices came from different aspects:     flood in India and Pakistan, made the cotton field no good harvest;  farmers reduced area of planting cottons in China,   G20 summit closed lots of woven factories with pollution emission because we would like to guarantee our distinguished guests a blue sky to see and fresh air to breath....
